Film Brief: Now You See Me

Some nice stagecraft and a number of cool visual sequences cannot save this weak, nearly suspense-free, utterly flat film.  The horrible music used in the action scenes is symbolic of the fact that the director has no idea what he’s doing.  This film has received generally bad reviews, but I wanted to see for myself.  My recommendation: watch the trailer.  You won’t get any more out of Now You See Me than shown in its marketing.  3/10

Comparison Notes: I Am Legend, Sherlock Holmes, Jumper
