German Highlights: Run Lola Run

run-lola-runAn entertaining workout of a film, Run Lola Run (Lola Rennt, 1998) is a great introduction to German film.  Kenneth Turan:

You’ll have fun with this one.  The only available streaming is on Crackle — for free!  If you watch it there, subtitles are provided except for the introductory poems, first T.S. Eliot:

We shall not cease from exploration

And the end of all our exploring

Will be to arrive where we started

And know the place for the first time.

And then S. Herberger: “After the game is before the game.”
